About The Position

This role is for an Apprentice, Heavy Duty Mechanic Underground at the Brucejack Gold Mine, a high-grade underground mine in northern British Columbia. The apprentice will play a key role in maintaining and servicing heavy equipment and power generation systems to ensure safe and efficient operations. The position is located in a remote camp setting with rotational schedule of 13 days on / 13 days off. Requirements

Basic mechanical knowledge in automotive, heavy-duty equipment, or power generation.
Strong willingness to learn and develop skills in power generation maintenance and operations.
Valid driver’s license for site vehicles.
WHMIS and TDG certifications (or willingness to obtain).

Nice To Haves

Experience with heavy-duty machinery, power generation, or underground equipment is an asset.

Responsibilities

Work under the guidance of qualified Journeyman Mechanics to service and repair heavy equipment.
Perform preventive maintenance on mobile equipment, generators, and fixed machinery.
Inspect, diagnose, and troubleshoot mechanical issues using specialized tools and testing equipment.
Adjust and replace defective parts or components to restore equipment functionality.
Test repaired equipment to meet manufacturer specifications and operational standards.
Clean, lubricate, and perform routine maintenance to maximize equipment lifespan.
Assist in servicing attachments and working tools such as blades, winches, and plows.
Follow all safety protocols and ensure compliance with company policies and industry regulations.
Participate in ongoing training and development programs.
Ensure compliance with all relevant Newmont Health & Safety procedures and other relevant policies.
