About The Position

Cleveland Brothers, the largest Cat® dealer in Pennsylvania, northern West Virginia and western Maryland, has an immediate opportunity for an Apprentice Training Instructor. Cleveland Brothers Equipment Co., Inc., your local Caterpillar dealership, is looking for a highly motivated self-starter to join our growing team of established and successful professionals.

Requirements

  • Must be familiar with Caterpillar equipment including engines, hydraulics, electronics, and other systems used within the Caterpillar product line and have a strong mechanical aptitude.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills to be able to break down and communicate this information and operation of these systems to apprentices and technicians.
  • Must be able to work and communicate with other Trainers, Technical Communicators and other personnel to keep up to date on emerging information.
  • Solid working skills in computer applications including Microsoft Office as well as all Cat software.
  • Display creativity, commitment, and the desire to function as part of a team.
  • Must be willing to complete the Caterpillar Instructor Accreditation Program and achieve accreditation by completing all requirements.
  • Ability to prioritize assignments, handle multiple tasks and work independently.
  • Candidate must be available and willing to travel throughout the Company's territory as dictated by training needs at various company and training locations
  • Must be willing to travel between 25% and 50% of the time.
  • 3-7 years industry experience.

  • Technical Degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, organize, schedule and present training materials and training courses.
  • Consult with department managers on apprentice performance and development.
  • Continually update and keep course content current as new product technology comes out.
  • Support apprentices while in training and on the job including communication with training partners.
  • When available, participate in events that support apprentice recruitment and retention.
  • Screen candidates and assist in candidate interviews.
  • Be able to plan and carry out hands on lab activities ranging from engine rebuild practices, electronics and component disassembly and assembly.
  • Travel to branches on a quarterly basis to observe and audit apprentice performance.
