About The Position

The Apprentice Teacher role offers individuals with limited or no teaching experience an opportunity to explore education through hands-on practice and training toward becoming a successful full-time classroom teacher. Based in Boston, Apprentice Teachers observe experienced Master Teachers and school leaders, co-teach with teacher-leaders, provide substitute coverage, and support students and teachers through tutoring, grading, and individual or small-group instruction. Depending on school needs and candidate background, the role may include teaching a class with a limited teaching load. Apprentice Teachers also contribute to work inside and outside the classroom, such as teaching or coordinating Enrichment classes, organizing student events, and building mentoring relationships with students. They participate in summer and school-year professional development and meet regularly with an instructional coach. By year-end, Apprentice Teachers are expected to be strong candidates for full-time teaching positions.
