About The Position

The Apprentice Teacher position is designed for talented individuals with limited or no teaching experience who want to explore education and gain hands-on practice and training to become successful full-time classroom teachers. Based in Boston, Apprentice Teachers learn from experienced teachers and school leaders by observing Master Teachers, co-teaching with teacher-leaders, providing substitute coverage, and supporting instruction through tutoring, grading, and individual or small-group teaching. Depending on school needs and the candidate’s background, the role may include teaching a class with a limited teaching load. Apprentice Teachers support work inside and outside the classroom, including teaching or coordinating enrichment classes, organizing student events, and building mentoring relationships with students. They participate in summer and school-year professional development and meet regularly with an instructional coach to develop their teaching skills. The position is intended to build the experience and support needed to prepare strong candidates for full-time teaching roles.
