About The Position

Finning is looking for dedicated Heavy Duty Mechanic Apprentices to troubleshoot, maintain, and repair a variety of Caterpillar products in a service-oriented environment. This position is based at the Mildred Lake Shop facility and operates on a 14x14 continuous shift rotation. Ideal candidates are safety-conscious, team players, self-motivated, autonomous, detail-oriented, and have already begun their Heavy Equipment Technician certification.

Requirements

• Must be a current 2nd, 3rd, or 4th year Heavy Equipment Technician Apprentice
• Willing to work towards Heavy Equipment Technician Certification
• Successfully meet Finning’s educational and testing prerequisites, including completion of grade 12 (not including a general equivalent diploma)
• Meet the requirements of article 5.02 of the Alberta Collective Agreement
• Highly motivated and safety focused
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills
• Previous Caterpillar mining equipment experience and basic computer skills
• Mechanical aptitude with a basic understanding of heavy equipment parts and repairs

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair Caterpillar equipment
• Assist with a variety of field repairs and diagnostics as required
• Utilize Caterpillar SIS and ET daily
• Complete technical documentation (service reports, warranty, crossover notes)
• Interact with customers, sales support, and the rest of the Finning team
• Work with the Service Supervisor and Leadhand on various tasks as required
