About The Position

At Pursuit, we create opportunities for guests to truly connect with iconic destinations through world-class attractions and distinctive lodges. This on-site living role is based at the remote Columbia Icefield in Jasper National Park, 100 km from Jasper, surrounded by stunning glacier views and endless mountain adventure. The role is part of a destination that includes the Glacier View Lodge, dining outlets, retail, and the world-famous Glacier Adventure and Skywalk. Staff live on-site with accommodations and three hot meals per day. As a Heavy Duty Mechanic at the Columbia Icefield, you will contribute to making the Columbia Icefield Adventure as safe as possible for our international guests. Your role ensures the mechanical fitness of our motorcoaches, heavy equipment, and 21 unique Ice Explorers, upholding our #1 Core value of Safety 1st.

Requirements

  • Valid Alberta (or inter-provincial) Heavy Duty Mechanic Journeyman certification
  • Also accepting resumes for 2nd, 3rd or 4th year apprentice
  • Experience troubleshooting and diagnostics on Detroit Diesel, CAT, MTU and Allison engines/transmissions
  • Familiar with MCI & Prevost highway coaches
  • Ability to supply own tools up to ¾” and impact drives
  • Ability to think outside the box with a positive attitude, and problem-solving skills
  • Mature, energetic, dependable and self-motivated
  • Enjoy working with a team in a busy, fast-paced environment
  • Must enjoy working outdoors, even in challenging mountain weather conditions
  • Comfortable working on your feet for extended periods in an outdoor environment.
  • Be prepared for all types of weather (Snow, Rain, Wind, Hail) at all times. The weather changes quickly at the Columbia Icefield
  • Must adhere to the Company’s Drug and Alcohol policy
  • Must meet the Organization grooming and appearance standards
  • Must consent to a criminal record check

Nice To Haves

  • Class 1, 2 or 3 driver’s license with airbrake (Q) endorsement an asset
  • Standard First-Aid or higher an asset

Responsibilities

  • Ensure to follow adequate and proper safety procedures when performing any duties
  • Perform preventative maintenance
  • Diagnose equipment problems and determine repairs as needed
  • Adjust equipment and repair or replace defective parts
  • Test repaired equipment for proper performance
  • Service attachments and working tools
  • Maintain a clean and tidy work area and assist with cleaning duties in working environment
  • Maintain daily record of all works orders, part orders and other administrative tasks
  • Demonstrate continuous efforts to improve operations, decrease downtime and improve processes
  • Support colleagues and co-workers in their duties.
  • Act as a coach and subject matter expert when it comes to everything vehicles
  • Other duties as assigned
