About The Position

Solect Energy is seeking a full-time Apprentice Electrician to join their service and maintenance team in Hopkinton, MA. This role is crucial for maintaining and inspecting commercial/industrial solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. The ideal candidate will possess strong customer communication skills, be self-driven, independent, and have a passion for the solar industry. They should be capable of managing a high volume of projects while ensuring excellent quality work. Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver's license
  • Positive driving record
  • Attainment of and/or working towards the attainment of a Journeyman electrical license.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge and understanding of Solar PV Basics, Fundamentals, and Troubleshooting
  • OSHA10 Certification
  • NABCEP Certification
  • Willingness and excitement to learn.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and photovoltaic (PV) power generation systems.
  • Construct controllers and panels, using power drills, saws, and punches.
  • Measure, cut, and bend wire and conduit using measuring instruments and hand tools.
  • Assist with troubleshooting electrical components, wiring diagrams, transformers, inverters, panels, and circuits.
  • Trace short circuits in wiring using a test meter.
  • Work consistently in a safe and effective manner.
  • Examine electrical units for loose connections, broken insulation, or other issues.
  • Perform related maintenance such as tightening connections using hand tools.
  • Accurately and effectively communicate and document findings and requirements.
  • Maintain tools, vehicles, and equipment.
  • Keep parts and supplies in order.
  • Learn and use software to aid in project management and documentation.
  • Be enrolled in or able to enroll in an accredited apprentice training course to achieve required hours for a Journeyman’s Electrical License.
