About The Position
Solect Energy is seeking a full-time Apprentice Electrician to join their service and maintenance team in Hopkinton, MA. This role is crucial for maintaining and inspecting commercial/industrial solar photovoltaic (PV) systems. The ideal candidate will possess strong customer communication skills, be self-driven, independent, and passionate about the solar industry. The role requires managing a high volume of projects with excellent quality work, contributing to a culture of excellence, innovation, and teamwork.
Requirements
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Valid driver's license
- Positive driving record
- Attainment of and/or working towards the attainment of a Journeyman electrical license.
Nice To Haves
- Knowledge and understanding of Solar PV Basics, Fundamentals, and Troubleshooting
- OSHA10 Certification
- NABCEP Certification
- Willingness and excitement to learn.
Responsibilities
- Assist with the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems and photovoltaic (PV) power generation systems.
- Construct controllers and panels, using power drills, saws, and punches.
- Measure, cut, and bend wire and conduit using measuring instruments and hand tools.
- Assist with troubleshooting electrical components, wiring diagrams, transformers, inverters, panels, and circuits.
- Trace short circuits in wiring using a test meter.
- Work consistently in a safe and effective manner.
- Examine electrical units for loose connections, broken insulation, or other issues.
- Perform related maintenance such as tightening connections using hand tools.
- Accurately and effectively communicate and document findings and requirements.
- Maintain tools, vehicles, and equipment.
- Keep parts and supplies in order.
- Learn and use software to aid in project management and documentation.
- Be enrolled in or able to enroll in an accredited apprentice training course to achieve required hours for a Journeyman’s Electrical License.
