About The Position

TravelCenters of America is seeking a Diesel Technician to provide accurate and efficient service to customers by troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing heavy-duty trucks and trailers in a reasonable and responsible manner, in accordance with company and industry standards. The role works in a service-focused environment and includes diagnostic testing, repair planning, communicating with Service Advisors, and safely completing repairs. The technician also helps maintain a clean and safe work environment, recommends other TA services during inspection reviews, and supports the safety of customers and employees.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Graduate of an acceptable trade school or manufacturer’s technical school, or previous mechanic experience.
• Willingness to expand professional knowledge through education and training programs.
• Ability to work unsupervised.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and some holidays, in interior and exterior conditions.
• Ability to meet the requirements for the needed physical tasks, with or without accommodation.
• Investment in own tools.
• Works well with others and is excited to be part of the team.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service in a team environment, aiming to exceed customer expectations.
• Perform diagnostic testing and interpret results.
• Develop a repair plan and communicate it to the Service Advisor.
• Repair malfunctioning parts and other mechanical or electrical equipment.
• Complete repairs safely, effectively, and efficiently.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Recommend other TA services to customers as part of the inspection review process.
• Maintain the safety of customers and employees.
