About The Position

The Apprentice Diesel Tech-Mechanic provides accurate and efficient service to customers by troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing heavy-duty trucks and trailers in a reasonable and responsible manner, in accordance with company and industry standards. The role involves conducting diagnostic tests, interpreting results, developing repair plans, communicating with Service Advisors, and completing mechanical and electrical repairs safely and efficiently. Team members work in interior and exterior conditions and maintain a clean, safe environment while helping ensure the safety of customers and employees. The position also involves recommending other TravelCenters of America services during inspection reviews.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Graduate of an acceptable trade school or manufacturer’s technical school, or previous mechanic experience.
• Willingness to expand professional knowledge through education and training programs.
• Ability to work unsupervised.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and some holidays, in interior and exterior conditions.
• Ability to meet the physical task requirements with or without accommodation.
• Investment in own tools.
• Dedicated individual who works well with others and is excited to be part of the team.

Responsibilities

• Provide customer service in a team environment focused on exceeding customer expectations.
• Perform diagnostic testing and interpret results.
• Develop repair plans and communicate them to the Service Advisor.
• Repair malfunctioning parts and other mechanical or electrical equipment.
• Complete repairs safely, effectively, and efficiently.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Recommend other TA services to customers as part of the inspection review process.
• Help maintain the safety of customers and employees.
