About The Position

This apprenticeship involves rotating through departments related to the trade to complete 8000 on-the-job training hours and successfully complete related classroom instruction. The apprentice will work closely with a Journeyperson to create/maintain CNC programs using CAM, understand NC code, and manually write NC programming. Responsibilities also include developing new processes and optimizing existing turning, milling, and grinding processes for automotive components, focusing on improving tool life, cost, process capability, and cycle time. The role requires a highly motivated individual willing to learn and apply acquired skills.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Mechanical aptitude and knowledge
• Hands-on learner
• Blueprint reading
• CNC machining
• Accuracy in measurement
• Metal cutting practices
• Math
• Enthusiastic about their career in skilled trades
• Excellent communication ability (written & verbal)

Responsibilities

• Rotate in departments related to the trade to complete 8000 on-the-job training hours and successfully complete related classroom instruction specific to the trade
• Work closely with a Journeyperson to create/maintain CNC programs using CAM and must be proficient in understanding NC code and writing NC programming manually
• Work closely with a Journeyperson to develop new processes, and optimizing existing turning, milling, and grinding processes for automotive components
• Optimize processes for improving tool life and cost, process capability and cycle time
• Requires a highly motivated individual who is willing to learn and apply acquired skills
