About The Position

Join the Enstrom Team. For more than six decades, Enstrom has crafted chocolates using traditional hand-dipping techniques that cannot be replicated by machinery. The Apprentice Chocolatier position offers the opportunity to learn and preserve this craft under the guidance of experienced chocolate artisans. This is not a traditional manufacturing role. The successful candidate will begin a multi-year journey toward mastering the art of hand-tempered and hand-dipped chocolates. The work requires patience, focus, attention to detail, and a genuine appreciation for craftsmanship. Individuals who enjoy artistic, repetitive, and highly skilled work often find this role especially rewarding. Through observation, practice, and mentorship, the Apprentice Chocolatier develops the tactile skills, consistency, and understanding required to become a skilled chocolate dipper and artisan.

Requirements

  • Follow directions and safety procedures.
  • Have proper tactile skills and body temperature to dip candy.
  • Maintain quality standards at all times, even while doing repetitious work.
  • Work well within a team environment, especially in a cool, confined area.
  • Thorough familiarity with chemistry of candy, chocolate, humidity and temperature.
  • Fluency in written and spoken English.
  • Stand, lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Cool hands.
  • Carry 3# candy trays and 6# storage boxes.
  • Bend, stoop, climb, kneel, see, hear.
  • Handle or fell objects and tools, grasp, turn, raise arms above shoulder height.
  • Ability to sit in cool room, bend head, use shoulders, use dominant hand repeatedly.
  • Ability to visually inspect products for quality and appearance.

  • Preferred experience with artistic, craft-based, culinary, or detail-oriented work.

Responsibilities

  • Produce finished chocolate and pastel products.
  • Assist with general departmental tasks and assist in the Candy Kitchen.
  • Learn traditional hand-dipping techniques used in premium chocolate production.
  • Assist with preparation of centers and other candy products.
  • Develop an understanding of chocolate behavior, texture, temperature, viscosity, and finish.
  • Practice artistic consistency in appearance, shape, and presentation of finished chocolates.
  • Learn proper handling of centers, nut cups, and specialty chocolate products.
  • Progressively develop the manual dexterity required.
  • Assist experienced dippers with daily production activities.
  • Interaction with kitchen staff, chocolate packer(s) and others for smooth departmental functioning.
  • Prepare centers and other confectionery products for dipping.
  • Assist with preparation and maintenance of chocolate melters and dipping stations.
  • Package, label, and store finished products according to company standards and storage guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and food-safe work environment and monitoring of chocolate melters.
  • Assist with setup and cleanup of dipping areas.
  • Monitor material inventory and communicate supply needs.
  • Keeping Daily records of production.
  • Support other production departments when necessary.
