About The Position

The Applied AI Engineer – Test & Evaluation (T&E) identifies T&E and engineering workflows where AI, automation, analytics, or digital tools can improve efficiency or decision-making. The role builds and prototypes AI assistants, agents, retrieval-based knowledge tools, and workflow automations. Applications may include test planning, procedure development, drafting and reviewing test reports, extracting insights from test data and reports, and developing training and how-to materials. The engineer assesses readiness of data and systems for ingesting, organizing, securing, searching, and analyzing large technical datasets and document collections. The role translates user needs into technical requirements, prototypes, and implementation plans; evaluates AI tools, platforms, vendors, and external development efforts for feasibility, scalability, security considerations, and mission fit; and serves as a technical point of contact for outsourced AI or digital-modernization work. The position also supports user adoption through working groups, demonstrations, training materials, and communication with technical and nontechnical stakeholders. The role may require working on-site at or in support of Arnold Air Force Base.
