About The Position

HPR is a provider of high-performance, ultra-low-latency electronic trading and capital markets infrastructure delivered as a managed service. Its technology helps tier-one financial institutions monitor and execute trades. Applications Engineering Interns build on their academic background to provide service to clients, working with high-performance networking and using communication, troubleshooting, and technical skills to interface with customers and identify efficient solutions.

The internship offers an active, hands-on learning experience. Interns work with the team and make meaningful daily contributions while connecting with colleagues and mentors and building a professional network. The anticipated hourly base wage is $40. The final offer may vary based on experience, skills, and qualifications; the stated rate does not include potential bonuses. HPR does not provide employment sponsorship.

Requirements

• Pursuing a BS or MS in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, with sophomore standing or higher.
• Successfully completed one or more courses related to Data Structures and Algorithms, Operating Systems, Machine Structure and Assembly Language, and/or Networks and Protocols.
• Maintain at least a 3.0 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale, if applicable.
• Relevant programming experience in an internship or academic environment demonstrating strong engineering skills.
• Relevant experience developing Python or Java applications.
• Demonstrated ability to read and write C code.
• Familiarity with a Linux Bash/Shell environment.
• Strong technical skills and an interest in expanding knowledge of coding languages.
• Fundamental knowledge of data structures and algorithms.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced technical environment.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• Desire to work with low-level technologies.
• Familiarity with network socket programming and TCP.
