About The Position

HPR is a provider of high-performance, ultra-low-latency electronic trading and capital markets infrastructure solutions offered as a managed service. Its technology helps tier-1 financial institutions monitor and execute trades. The Applications Engineering Intern will build on a strong academic background to provide service to clients and work with a close-knit team on high-performance networking. The role involves interfacing with customers and applying communication, troubleshooting, and technical skills to find efficient solutions.

Interns will be actively engaged with the team and make meaningful contributions daily, rather than working on separate “intern projects.” HPR aims to provide a robust learning experience, connections with peers and mentors, and a foundation for building a professional network. HPR does not currently provide employment sponsorship.

Requirements

• Pursuing a BS or MS in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, and have attained sophomore standing or higher.
• Successfully completed one or more courses related to Data Structures and Algorithms, Operating Systems, Machine Structure and Assembly Language, and/or Networks and Protocols.
• Maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
• Relevant programming experience in an internship or academic environment demonstrating strong engineering skills.
• Programming experience developing Python or Java applications.
• Ability to read and write C code.
• Familiarity with a Linux Bash/Shell environment.
• Strong technical skills and interest in expanding knowledge of coding languages.
• Fundamental knowledge of data structures and algorithms.
• Ability to collaborate in a fast-paced technical environment.
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• Desire to work with low-level technologies.
• Familiarity with network socket programming and TCP.
