About The Position

Seven Seas Water Group (SSWG) is seeking an Applications Engineer to be the technical lead for their industrial Water-as-a-Service® (iWaaS®) business. This role involves developing treatment flowsheets, pricing projects, and serving as the primary technical contact during the sales cycle. The engineer will work with customers' technical teams, ensuring the credibility of SSWG's proposals. This is a hybrid position based in Tampa, Florida, or Houston, Texas, requiring 20-30% travel.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Environmental, or Civil Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
10+ years in industrial water and wastewater treatment in an applications, process, or proposal engineering role.
Demonstrated depth in both water and wastewater treatment.
Direct experience with industrial clients and their waste streams (e.g., food and beverage, chemicals, semiconductor, oil and gas, pharmaceutical, pulp and paper).
Demonstrated command of major unit operations: biological (MBR, SBR, MBBR, anaerobic), physical/chemical (DAF, clarification), membrane (UF, RO), oxidation/disinfection (AOP, ozone, UV), PFAS treatment, and dewatering.
A working supplier network across relevant technologies.
Experience writing equipment scopes of work and negotiating process performance guarantees with suppliers.
Ground-up estimating capability: PFD development, equipment selection and sizing, capital estimating from supplier pricing, and operating cost estimation.
Strong communication skills, with credibility in front of customers, suppliers, and executives.

Nice To Haves

A PE license.
Experience with alternative delivery models like DBOO/DBOOM, BOOT, or Water-as-a-Service® contracts.
Piloting or treatability study experience.

Responsibilities

Translate customer influent and effluent requirements into a complete treatment flowsheet, mass balance, PFD, and design basis that SSWG can guarantee and operate profitably.
Design for ownership, considering reliability, redundancy, chemical and energy consumption, and lifecycle cost.
Utilize a broad range of industrial treatment technologies, including biological, physical/chemical, membrane, oxidation, disinfection, PFAS treatment, and dewatering.
Clearly define the design basis, guarantees, and exclusions.
Manage the supplier side of the equation, maintaining a network of qualified vendors, writing scopes of work, and structuring supplier agreements with performance guarantees.
Lead technical bid evaluations, normalizing offerings and recommending selections based on lifecycle value.
Price jobs from the ground up, developing PFDs, equipment lists, sizing equipment, and building capital estimates.
Estimate the full cost of service, including chemicals, energy, media replacement, residuals handling, staffing, and maintenance.
Own the technical content of proposals, including process narrative, flowsheet, design basis, guarantees, and exclusions.
Hand off a robust design basis, supplier commitments, and estimate at contract award for successful execution.
