About The Position

The Public Safety IT Delivery Center is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join the Applications Support Unit within the Public Safety Solutions Management Division as an Applications Developer 2. This position offers challenging daily work for a prominent state agency, telework opportunities, and free parking. The role is crucial in ensuring agencies have reliable tools for their critical responsibilities and is ideal for someone who enjoys solving challenges and building strong applications. This position supports the development and maintenance of applications used by several public safety agencies, involving programming, testing, troubleshooting, documenting systems, and supporting users.

Requirements

  • One year as an Applications Developer 1 or Computer Programmer 3 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration).
  • Four years of information technology experience that includes two years of experience in applications development or applications maintenance.
  • Two years of information technology experience in applications development or applications maintenance, and an associate’s degree in any information technology field.
  • A bachelor's degree in any information technology field.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree/credits.
  • Meet the PA residency requirement.
  • Be able to perform essential job functions.
  • Pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain web applications using tools such as Microsoft .NET, ASP.Net Core, C#, SQL, XML, and FTP.
  • Create test cases, set up test environments, and coordinate system testing with business owners.
  • Troubleshoot application issues, respond to ServiceNow requests, and evaluate operations to correct system problems.
  • Create and update documentation, prepare system requirement documents, and manage versions using Azure DevOps.
  • Provide direction in project planning, establish requirements, and monitor application development progress.
  • Perform other assigned duties, including responsibilities under the Department CoG Plan when activated.
