About The Position

Apple is seeking an Application Platform Architect to help guide the future direction of its software application platform, which enables developers to create applications. The role works across the software engineering organization and with cross-functional partners, influencing software features and balancing complex design and architectural constraints. It also involves facilitating sensitive conversations with multiple stakeholders.

The architect represents the platform throughout the software development cycle, helping engineering teams create a strong developer experience. The role evaluates developer requests with developer relations, engineering, and other partners, and works with legal partners to address evolving regulatory requirements and review features for compliance across the globe. It also promotes scalable platform best practices through processes and training.

Requirements

• 10+ years of experience working in software development using Swift, Objective-C, or other object-oriented programming languages.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, API design, and system design.
• Strong written and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with engineers and senior leaders.
• Proven ability to ramp up quickly on new technologies.
• Self-driven, able to work autonomously while managing multiple simultaneous work tracks.
• Experience leading large cross-functional software projects.
• Track record of shipping software at scale.

Nice To Haves

• Understanding of developing platform software, especially iOS and macOS.
• Experience with software regulation compliance.

Responsibilities

• Engage with teams within and beyond the software organization to help create the best platform possible.
• Partner with engineering teams throughout the software development cycle as the voice of the platform and help craft a strong developer experience.
• Evaluate incoming developer requests with developer relations, engineering, and other partners, and design solutions that enhance platform offerings.
• Create processes and training to promote platform-building best practices across software engineering.
• Engage with legal partners to navigate evolving requirements and review features for alignment with regulatory requirements across the globe.
