Application Platform Architect, Application Platform Integrity
About The Position
Apple is seeking an Application Platform Architect to help guide the direction of its software application platform, the foundation that enables developers to create applications. The role works across the software engineering organization and with cross-functional partners to develop the platform, balance complex design and architectural constraints, and facilitate sensitive discussions with stakeholders. The architect represents the platform throughout the software development cycle, partners with engineering teams to shape a strong developer experience, and evaluates developer requests with developer relations, engineering, and other partners. The role also promotes platform best practices through scalable processes and training, and works with legal partners to address evolving regulatory requirements and review features for alignment with regulations around the world.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience working in software development with Swift, Objective-C, or other object-oriented programming languages.
- Strong understanding of software architecture, API design, and system design.
- Strong written and presentation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with engineers and senior leaders.
- Proven ability to ramp up quickly on new technologies.
- Self-driven, with the ability to work autonomously while managing multiple simultaneous work tracks.
Nice To Haves
- Experience leading large cross-functional software projects.
- Track record of shipping software at scale.
- Understanding of developing platform software, especially iOS and macOS.
- Experience with software regulation compliance.
Responsibilities
- Engage with teams across software organizations and other functions to help create the best platform possible.
- Partner with engineering teams throughout the software development cycle as the voice of the platform and help craft a great developer experience.
