This involves coordinating with customers and internal company resources to ensure products meet time and quality requirements. The role serves as a liaison to customer engineering on structural products and all product-related issues, aiming to understand design priorities and manage engineering programs and projects. This includes proposing solutions within the current team or redirecting to the appropriate department. The specialist will consolidate agreements with customers and plants to define design, performance, and dimensional requirements for structural products, following MES standards. They will also generate ideas for design improvements to achieve lighter weight, stronger, better-performing, and lower-cost designs through brainstorming workshops or regular meetings with the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT). Support is provided for new product launch activities at the customer and Metalsa facilities, including weld quality inspection, ensuring build level to release, dimensional reports compliant with customer GD&T, and hole inspection. The role also involves supporting other technical departments, communicating overall activities and status (e.g., testing updates, prototypes), managing design release packages using the Metalsa Project System, and approving or rejecting deviations from the manufacturing process according to Metalsa Quality Standards. Additionally, the specialist will provide support to Innovation, DFSS, and De-Couple projects, lead product verification workshops, support quotation processes and service parts, monitor design KPIs, and participate actively in product improvement and engineering process efforts.
