About The Position

Erias Ventures is seeking an Application Engineer who designs software tools and subsystems to support software reuse and domain analyses and manages their implementation. This role involves managing software development and support using formal specifications, data flow diagrams, and other accepted design techniques and Computer-Aided Software Engineering (CASE) tools. The engineer will estimate software development costs and schedule, review existing programs for refinements, and define specifications for software applications or maintain existing ones. Responsibilities include program design, coding, testing, debugging, documentation, quality assurance review, and evaluation of software products. The role also entails performing Linux server system administration, including standing up, configuring, and maintaining Linux servers, monitoring and patching/upgrading Linux servers and AWS instances, and assisting with security compliance controls and documentation. Additionally, the engineer will support the installation and configuration of new hardware or software, integration with existing infrastructure, and the decommission of obsolete hardware, documenting all inventory changes.

Requirements

  • Current Top-Secret/SCI with polygraph security clearance is required. Candidates cannot be sponsored or nominated for a government security clearance under this position.
  • Ten (10) years minimum experience and a High School Diploma/GED.
  • Eight (8) years minimum experience and an Associate's Degree.
  • Six (6) years minimum experience and a Bachelor's Degree.
  • Four (4) years minimum experience and a Master's Degree.
  • Two (2) years minimum experience and a Doctorate's Degree.
  • Proficient with Linux.
  • Minimum of 3 years Linux server administration experience (within the last 3 years).
  • Proficient with AWS.
  • Minimum of 1 year of AWS experience (within the last year).
  • Proficient with Ansible.
  • Minimum of 1 year of Ansible experience (within the last year).

Responsibilities

  • Designs software tools and subsystems to support software reuse and domain analyses and manages their implementation.
  • Manages software development and support using formal specifications, data flow diagrams, other accepted design techniques and Computer-Aided Software Engineering (CASE) tools.
  • Estimates software development costs and schedule.
  • Reviews existing programs and assists in making refinements, reducing operating time and improving current techniques.
  • Formulates and defines specifications for software applications or modifies and maintains existing applications using engineering releases and utilities from the manufacturer.
  • Responsible for program design, coding, testing, debugging and documentation.
  • Instructs, directs, and checks the work of other task personnel.
  • Responsible for quality assurance review and the evaluation of existing and new software products.
  • Perform Linux server system administration functions.
  • Stand up, configure, and maintain Linux servers.
  • Monitoring and patching/upgrades to Linux servers and AWS instances.
  • Assist and incorporate security compliance controls as applicable.
  • Support documentation of non-applicable controls.
  • Assist with installation of new or replacement hardware or software.
  • Configure and integrate hardware or software with existing networked infrastructure.
  • Assist with decommission and/or removal of obsolete, excess, or replaced hardware.
  • Document inventory changes.
