Enterprise - Systems Administrator - Linux, AWS, YUM
About The Position
Erias Ventures is seeking a System Administrator to provide support for the implementation, troubleshooting, and maintenance of Information Technology (IT) systems. This role involves managing IT system infrastructure, supporting day-to-day operations, monitoring, and problem resolution for various devices. The administrator will handle Tier 1 and Tier 2 problem identification, diagnosis, and resolution, escalating issues and communicating status to management and internal customers. Responsibilities include configuring and managing UNIX and Windows operating systems, installing and loading operating system software, troubleshooting, maintaining network component integrity, and implementing system enhancements. The position also involves creating and maintaining RedHat Linux virtual machines in Amazon AWS, evaluating systems for IAVA compliance, applying security updates, performing command-line administration, handling regular system backups, and communicating with development and dev ops teams. Partial telework may be allowed.
Requirements
- Ten (10) years experience as a SA in programs and contracts of similar scope, type, and complexity is required.
- Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline from an accredited college or university is required.
- Linux command line system administration (CentOS, RedHat, Amazon Linux, or equivalent)
- Experience applying system updates via yum or equivalent patching repository
- Experience working within a cloud environment a plus (Amazon AWS, Azure, or equivalent cloud infrastructure with virtual machines)
- A current Top-Secret/SCI with polygraph security clearance is required.
- Candidates cannot be sponsored or nominated for a government security clearance under this position.
Nice To Haves
- Five (5) years of additional SA experience may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree.
- Experience or knowledge of RedSeal Network Mapping tool a plus
- Knowledge of software deployed on systems a plus but not required (Elasticsearch, Docker, Kubernetes, Nifi)
- Syslog/NxLog
- Nagios or other similar monitoring applications
- Scripting experience (Python/Perl)
Responsibilities
- Provides support for implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance of Information Technology (IT) systems.
- Manages IT system infrastructure and any processes related to these systems.
- Provides support to IT systems including day-to-day operations, monitoring and problem resolution for all of the client/server/storage/network devices, mobile devices, etc.
- Provides Tier 1 (Help Desk) and Tier 2 (Escalation) problem identification, diagnosis and resolution of problems.
- Provides support for the escalation and communication of status to agency management and internal customers.
- Provides support for the dispatch system and hardware problems and remains involved in the resolution process.
- Configures and manages UNIX and Windows operating systems and installs/loads operating system software, troubleshoots, maintains integrity and configures network components along with implementing operating systems enhancements and updates to improve reliability, security and performance.
- Creates, and maintains RedHat Linux virtual machines running in a cloud infrastructure (Amazon AWS)
- Evaluates systems for IAVA compliance and applies necessary security updates/patches
- Performs command line system administration tasks on virtual machines
- Handles regular system backups and periodically tests backups for functionality
- Communicates with developers and dev ops team members to provide system administration support
