About The Position

Applied Materials is seeking an Application Engineer V to lead application solutions for customers in the semiconductor and advanced display industries. The role requires an in-depth understanding of customer technologies and critical gaps to guide product application roadmaps for future solutions. The engineer technically leads complex application activities and teams, and leads execution of customer-site beta trials, evaluations, and demonstrations, including substantial involvement in statements of work and commitment schedules. The role defines customer technical requirements through detailed analysis and understanding of the product roadmap, then leads complex field execution teams from planning through implementation. It also develops and transfers new application capabilities from product divisions to customer application support teams, defines methodologies to optimize system performance for specific applications, and leads customer technical review meetings. The position is regarded as a technical expert in its field, with broad knowledge of related disciplines. It anticipates business and regulatory issues, recommends product, process, or service improvements, leads projects with notable risk and complexity, and solves unique problems with broad business impact. The role may influence program, project, or service direction and resource allocation, and requires the ability to communicate complex ideas and persuade stakeholders, including senior-level audiences.

Responsibilities

Lead product application roadmaps for future solutions based on customer technologies and critical gaps.
Technically lead difficult and complex application activities and teams.
Create and lead execution teams for customer-site beta trials, evaluations, and demonstrations, with significant involvement in statements of work and commitment schedules.
Define customer technical requirements through analysis and understanding of the product roadmap.
Lead complex field execution teams from planning through implementation.
Define methodologies to optimize system performance for specific applications.
Identify needs, analyze, develop, and transfer new application capabilities within the system envelope from product divisions to customer application support teams.
Lead customer technical review meetings.
Anticipate business and regulatory issues and recommend product, process, or service improvements.
Develop project execution strategies for projects with notable risk and complexity.
Solve unique and complex problems with broad business impact.
Communicate complex ideas and persuade stakeholders, often at senior levels, to adopt a different point of view.
