About The Position

Alstom is seeking a Software Verification and Validation Engineer to help ensure the reliability and safety of complex embedded systems used in rail transportation. The role drives software quality assurance within an agile process and involves collaboration with cross-functional engineering teams to design, test, and validate software for sustainable mobility solutions. The engineer designs and implements test plans and test cases, develops and executes automated UI and functional tests, and supports model-based testing and continuous integration frameworks. The role also promotes knowledge sharing by documenting best practices. Success is measured by on-time delivery of validated software aligned with project milestones, effective collaboration and communication across multidisciplinary teams, and reductions in software defects alongside improved test coverage efficiency. The position is based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field.
• Experience working with multiple operating systems, especially embedded systems, including Linux, any real-time operating system, and Windows.
• Experience creating scripts using Python or a similar language.
• Ability to identify and resolve software defects effectively.
• Strong analytical skills for root cause analysis and defect prevention.
• Ability to communicate technical information clearly and concisely to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to changing project requirements.
