About The Position

Our client is seeking an Application Developer. In this role you will support the client's multiyear modernization initiative by developing and maintaining modern, secure, cloud-based applications while helping transition legacy systems and processes to a scalable Azure environment. This opportunity is remote with travel to the client site a few times a year. Per our client contract, all candidates must be US Citizens or Green Card Holders.

Requirements

  • Experience with a state-level Teachers' Retirement System is required.

  • Knowledge of modern application development frameworks, programming languages, and secure coding practices.
  • Knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies, including Agile.
  • Knowledge of business process analysis, functional design principles, documentation standards, user story development, and acceptance criteria definition.
  • Knowledge of TRS business rules, including those specific to the Pension Software System.
  • Familiarity with legacy systems architecture, dependencies, technologies, and integration points.
  • Skill in performing all aspects of application development, including coding, unit testing, documentation, code reviews, and submitting pull requests for TRS staff to review.
  • Skill in developing, enhancing, and maintaining application components that meet functional and technical requirements.
  • Skill in developing clear, actionable user stories and maintaining a prioritized backlog.
  • Skill in developing APIs, system interfaces, and automation workflows.
  • Ability to deliver high-quality work output with minimal defects.
  • Ability to translate technical specifications into maintainable, production-ready software.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with TRS technical staff, analysts, testers, and project managers.
  • Ability to manage multiple development tasks and meet established timelines.
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities
