About The Position

As an Application Analyst, you will be the ultimate power user on the platforms you support. Your job is to fully understand the system's capabilities and help the users effectively use the software to perform their job functions. Additionally, you will also be responsible for some support, maintenance, and administrative tasks in the system as they are assigned. Essentially, you are an ambassador between IT and the application users. You will learn how the system works, how the users work, and how IT works, allowing you to facilitate smooth and efficient teamwork and use of the software. As a member of BJU IT’s Application Support team, your primary responsibility will be to perform the functions mentioned above for our student information system, Ellucian Colleague SaaS. Your secondary responsibilities may include similar tasks for other systems and other duties as assigned. BJU IT is a shared services organization and thus you will have customers from across the BJU family including Bob Jones University, Bob Jones Academy, and BJU Press.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively with development teams, PMO teams, and other technical or functional groups.
  • Ability to learn new concepts quickly and apply existing skills to emerging technologies or system challenges.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple system initiatives.
  • Strong problem solving skills and the ability to recommend process improvements that enhance system efficiency and user experience.
  • Capable of interacting well with the BJU development and PMO team.
  • Skill in troubleshooting application issues and providing effective technical support to end users.
  • Ability to translate user needs into clear, actionable technical specifications and highly technical information to users.
  • Understanding of data integrity practices, including data validation, accuracy, consistency, and secure data handling.
  • Familiarity with security protocols, user access management, and best practices for protecting sensitive information.
  • Ability to deliver presentations, conduct training sessions, and create clear documentation and process workflows.
  • Bachelor's degree (four-year college or university) or four or more years of related experience.
  • Basic understanding of reporting in enterprise systems and in tools such as PowerBi.

  • Knowledge of student information systems or similar enterprise applications and how they support organizational processes is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide front-line support to faculty/staff, resolve issues, and conduct initial triaging for issues brought to our attention pertaining to the SIS and related applications to ensure reliable daily operations.
  • Collaborate with the business and IT stakeholders to understand business requirements and translate them into technical specifications for configuration or development tasks.
  • Provide training, guidance, and documentation to users regarding new features, system updates, and standard processes.
  • Participate in testing software updates, understanding application functionality and capabilities, and generating ad hoc reports.
  • Evaluate system capabilities and assess whether current features meet the needs of the educational community.
  • Participate in vendor training and regular application project meetings.
  • Support the vendor and BJU IT teams during system design, configuration, and implementation of enhancements.
  • Help maintain data integrity and security by ensuring proper usage of the system, consistency, and appropriate handling of sensitive student information.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation such as process workflows, user guides, and troubleshooting resources.
  • Participate in planning, testing, and deploying system integrations, and updates.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and recommend enhancements to optimize system efficiency and user satisfaction.
  • Stay informed about emerging trends, best practices, and technologies to support ongoing system improvement.
  • Other duties as assigned.
