About The Position

The Appliance Maintenance Technician plays a critical role in maintaining resident satisfaction by diagnosing and repairing in-unit appliances across apartment communities. This is a hands-on role focused on real troubleshooting—not basic swaps—working across a wide range of appliance types, brands, and model years. The technician will be responsible for identifying issues, researching solutions when needed, and completing high-quality repairs safely and efficiently. This role directly supports the mission of creating better living for residents by delivering reliable service and a professional, respectful experience in every home.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Proven experience troubleshooting and repairing household appliances - building, home, and appliance maintenance (not entry-level).
  • Must have vehicle, valid driver's license, acceptable driving record and meet company insurability requirements.
  • Basic technology skills (mobile devices and work order systems (Yardi), and email, etc.).
  • Proficiency of the English language in reading, writing and verbal communication.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working across multiple appliance brands, years, and styles (Whirlpool, GE, etc.).
  • Ability to independently research parts, schematics, and repair solutions when encountering unfamiliar models.
  • Experience maintaining and managing truck stock/inventory for service efficiency.
  • Ability to identify recurring issues or property-wide trends and communicate recommendations.
  • Strong problem-solving mindset with the ability to work independently in the field.
  • Interest in mentoring or sharing knowledge with other technicians.
  • EPA / Section 608 certification (may be required by business needs and/or state, local, and federal laws).

Responsibilities

  • Independently troubleshoot and repair residential apartment appliances, including refrigerators (sealed systems, fans, control boards), dishwashers, washers and dryers, and ovens and stoves.
  • Diagnose issues across a variety of brands, with Whirlpool and GE being the most common.
  • Plan out the workday based on work orders to maximize efficiency and create the schedule of work for the day/week.
  • Research and identify repair solutions for different appliance styles, model years, and part configurations.
  • Determine whether repair or replacement is the best course of action.
  • Complete service requests with a high level of craftsmanship and leave each apartment clean and resident-ready.
  • Maintain an organized parts inventory within the company-issued vehicle.
  • Build strong relationships with residents through clear communication and reliable service.
  • Partner with property teams and leadership on recurring issues or improvement opportunities.
  • Participate in ongoing technical training to stay current on evolving appliance systems and technology.
