About The Position

Carilion Clinic is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Advanced Practice Provider (APP), either a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA), to join the team at Carilion Family Medicine – Daleville. This position offers the opportunity to provide comprehensive, patient-centered primary care in a collaborative, team-based environment serving patients across the lifespan.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing and Nurse Practitioner Program or Accredited Physician Assistant Program.
  • License or license eligible as an Advance Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner, Physician Assistant) as set forth by the state of Virginia.
  • If Nurse Practitioner, license to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia is required.
  • Eligible for prescriptive authority in accordance with State regulations and as authorized by the Virginia Boards of Nursing and Medicine.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
  • Must demonstrate and maintain all credentialing and licensing requirements of Carilion Clinic, the Virginia Board of Medicine or the Virginia Board of Nursing, and appropriate certifying bodies.
  • Capable of meeting credentialing or job function requirements as needed based on the requirements of the practice and of managed care payors and insurers.
  • Qualifies for malpractice insurance and is accepted by Carilion Clinic’s malpractice insurance carrier.
  • Able to work collaboratively with physicians and other health care providers.
  • Demonstrates good written and oral communication skills.
  • Computer literacy required for automated computer systems, including electronic medical records.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of experience preferred.
  • Additional experience may be required for some specialties.
  • Current PALS/NPR, as required, specific to position.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support ( ACLS) as required, specific to position.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality primary care services, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of acute and chronic conditions
  • Perform comprehensive physical examinations and develop individualized care plans
  • Order, interpret, and follow up on diagnostic tests and procedures
  • Prescribe medications and treatments in accordance with Virginia state regulations
  • Collaborate closely with physicians and interdisciplinary team members to ensure continuity of care
  • Educate patients and families on health maintenance, disease prevention, and treatment plans
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record
