About The Position

Under the direction of a supervising physician, the APP Fellow – PA is a trainee. The APP Fellowship program is a one-year long program that provides mentoring, didactic teaching, simulation skills training, and experience to prepare the APP Fellow to become a competent Front Line Ordering Clinician. Throughout the program, the APP Fellow will become responsible for the direct care and follow up of a population of patients that match his/her skill set through the designated curriculum and timelines. The components of the role include education, clinical practice, consultation, and professional development.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree Physician Assistant Required
  • Ability to work in a team setting with multiple responsibilities.
  • Ability to use computer and electronic medical records effectively
  • Must be vaccinated for COVID-19.
  • Must receive an annual influenza vaccine.
  • Must attest to not using tobacco products (for candidates not regularly scheduled in New Jersey).

Responsibilities

  • Participates in the APP Fellowship program educational curriculum. Completes post-tests and evaluations as a measure of competence.
  • Participates in own professional development by maintaining required competencies, identifying learning needs and seeking appropriate educational offerings.
  • Utilizes advanced assessment skills to support the management of a cohort of patients.
  • Performs and documents daily assessments.
  • Collects and analyzes data and formulates a family-centered plan of care.
  • Evaluates and monitors the effectiveness of the prescribed treatment plan.
  • Works collaboratively to communicate the plan of care and potential changes to this plan to the supervising physician and assigned Front Line Ordering Clinician.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to patient safety by speaking up about safety issues and changing practices to enhance safety.
  • Shares errors or potential errors through system reporting mechanisms.
  • Demonstrates shared accountability for safe practice.
