About The Position

The Asian Pacific Islander Political Alliance's (API PA) mission is to build long-term power for Asians and Pacific Islanders in Pennsylvania. This involves coordinating political, electoral, and legislative work to hold elected officials accountable, engaging in culturally competent and linguistically accessible direct voter contact, and building solidarity with other aligned communities of color. API PA operates primarily in South Asian, Korean, Chinese, and Vietnamese communities and is the first and only political organization directly advocating for the needs of Asian and Pacific Islanders in Pennsylvania. The organization is launching programs in Fall 2026 to learn about issues important to Asian Pacific Islanders in Pennsylvania, encourage voter registration and voting, educate individuals on elections and candidates, and ensure API voters have in-language support. The role involves speaking to voters to advance these programs, with an emphasis on Asian Pacific Islander voters. API PA will provide training and materials, including PPE. They aim to invest in their canvassers through meaningful work, constructive feedback, and exposure to policy/advocacy opportunities. The organization seeks individuals passionate about progressive and equitable systems, particularly for the betterment and empowerment of Asian Pacific Islander communities, and those interested in building political power for this demographic.
