About The Position

Fairstead is hiring a Maintenance Technician to maintain the day-to-day operations of a property and take responsibility for maintaining its physical assets. The role includes inspecting buildings and equipment, performing preventative maintenance and repairs, helping ensure the property is safe for residents and visitors, preparing vacated units for new occupants, and maintaining supplies and equipment. The technician participates in an on-call rotation and may need to respond to emergencies outside normal working hours.

Requirements

• Mechanical skills to handle minor repairs and fixtures.
• Knowledge of electricity to diagnose electrical problems and carry out minor repairs.
• General maintenance skills.
• Verbal and written communication skills for effective delivery of information.
• Prior experience as a Service Technician or in a similar role.
• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Ability to lift up to 70 pounds without assistance.
• Dexterity and attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

• HVAC, CMRP, or equivalent certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Inspect buildings and equipment regularly to identify needed repairs and improvements.
• Perform preventative maintenance and property repairs as needed.
• Implement maintenance policies and standards to prevent misuse of property appliances.
• Help ensure properties are safe for occupants, visitors, and workers.
• Clean and prepare vacated buildings and rooms for new occupants.
• Check electrical wiring for accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards.
• Check safety systems and devices monthly to ensure they operate effectively.
• Participate in the on-call rotation and respond promptly to emergency maintenance problems, including those outside normal working hours.
• Maintain an inventory of supplies, tools, and equipment.
