About The Position

Fairstead is hiring a Maintenance Technician to maintain the day-to-day operations of a property and take responsibility for maintaining its physical assets. The role includes inspecting buildings and equipment, performing preventive maintenance and repairs, supporting property safety, preparing vacant units for new occupants, checking electrical wiring and safety systems, participating in an on-call rotation, and maintaining an inventory of supplies, tools, and equipment.

Requirements

• Mechanical skills to handle minor repairs and fixtures.
• Knowledge of electricity to diagnose electrical problems and carry out minor repairs.
• General maintenance skills.
• Verbal and written communication skills for effective delivery of information.
• Prior experience as a Service Technician or in a similar role.
• Ability to stand for extended periods.
• Ability to lift up to 70 pounds without assistance.
• Dexterity and attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

• HVAC, CMRP, or equivalent certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Inspect buildings and equipment regularly for needed repairs and improvements.
• Perform necessary preventive maintenance and property repairs.
• Implement maintenance policies and standards to prevent misuse of property appliances.
• Help ensure properties are safe for occupants, visitors, and workers.
• Clean and prepare vacated buildings and rooms for new occupants.
• Check electrical wiring for accuracy and compliance with regulatory standards.
• Check safety systems and devices monthly for operational effectiveness.
• Participate in the on-call rotation and respond promptly to emergency maintenance problems that may require attention outside normal working hours.
• Maintain an inventory of supplies, tools, and equipment.
