About The Position

Northern Jet is seeking a highly skilled AOG Maintenance Technician to provide rapid-response support for their fleet, ensuring aircraft are returned to service safely and efficiently. The ideal candidate has strong troubleshooting skills, thrives in high-pressure situations, and is comfortable working independently while traveling to remote locations. This is a full-time position based in the Grand Rapids, Michigan area. Candidates must reside locally and be available to travel as needed.

Requirements

  • FAA A&P Certification (required)
  • Ability to read and interpret aircraft maintenance manuals, wiring diagrams, and schematics
  • Proficiency with maintenance tools, diagnostic equipment, and computerized maintenance tracking systems
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs and work in physically demanding environments in variable weather conditions
  • Flexibility to travel on short notice, including nights, weekends, and holidays (travel expectations are included in base salary; no additional on-call pay)
  • Must possess and maintain a valid Driver’s License and passport
  • FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certification (Required)
  • Minimum 2+ years of experience on Lear/Bombardier or comparable business jets (Preferred)
  • Honeywell engine experience highly valued
  • Strong knowledge of FAA Part 91/135 maintenance requirements

Nice To Haves

  • 2+ years of experience working on Learjet, Bombardier, or other business aircraft (strongly preferred)
  • Experience with Honeywell engines (highly valued)

Responsibilities

  • Respond to AOG situations primarily within Michigan and a 5-hour driving radius, traveling in company vehicles or occasionally flying to aircraft.
  • Provide rapid, unscheduled maintenance and return-to-service inspections in compliance with FAA regulations, manufacturer instructions, and company policies.
  • Diagnose and resolve mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and avionics issues under time-sensitive conditions.
  • Accurately document all maintenance actions in accordance with company and regulatory requirements.
  • When not traveling for AOG response, work a scheduled shift in the Orlando hangar performing routine and unscheduled maintenance.
  • Collaborate with pilots, dispatch, and maintenance control to minimize downtime and maximize aircraft availability.
  • Maintain readiness with proper tools, equipment, and travel documentation to deploy quickly.
  • Overtime may be required based on operational demands.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
