About The Position

Cardiology Consultants of Philadelphia (CCP), part of Cardiovascular Logistics, provides comprehensive cardiology care and is committed to high-quality cardiovascular care and improving patient outcomes. The Anticoagulation Medical Assistant position is based at CCP’s Center City, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania office. This specially trained Certified Medical Assistant works under the direct supervision of the staff RN, assisting with monitoring the dosage and care plan of patients receiving anticoagulation therapy. The position is eligible for a $500 sign-on bonus, subject to the stated employment and repayment conditions.

Requirements

Must be a Certified Medical Assistant.
Cardiology experience is required.

Responsibilities

Interview patients during visits and assess needs related to upcoming visits or procedures and current problems with anticoagulant medication.
Educate patients about medication interactions with anticoagulants, diet instructions, and adverse reactions.
Relay assessment information to the cardiologist.
Obtain additional information from hospitals, nursing homes, and other facilities as needed.
Call homebound and nursing home patients to communicate medication dosages and upcoming lab tests, and remind overdue patients.
Answer incoming calls and assist patients with questions.
Use required software programs to document patient lab results, history, and dosing instructions.
Prepare the weekly Warfarin report and call and document patients who have not completed their INR as directed, following the specified follow-up process, including an INR Late Letter and then a certified late letter.
Perform other duties as assigned.
