About The Position

Love Justice International (LJI) is a Christian nonprofit dedicated to fighting human trafficking and caring for orphaned and abandoned children. This role focuses on expanding and evolving LJI's anti-trafficking software, Searchlight. The software developer will be responsible for developing new features to enhance data collection, intelligence-led investigations, and trend analysis, directly supporting efforts to prevent trafficking, increase arrests, and scale global impact. The position is based in South Africa and requires occasional travel to LJI's field offices. LJI operates with a rigorous, data-driven approach, prioritizing impact and efficiency through scientific principles, business acumen, and local insights.

Requirements

• Mature Christian faith and agreement with LJI's Global Value to “Abide in Christ”.
• Knowledge, understanding, and agreement with how the Christian Gospel ministers to “the least of these” (Matthew 25:40) and guides LJI's mission.
• Agreement with LJI's Core Value “Be the Kingdom” (in mission execution and personal conduct).
• Acknowledgment of LJI's Statement of Faith.
• Passion for justice and advocacy on behalf of vulnerable populations.
• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience with full-stack development (preferably Django and AngularJS or similar frameworks).
• Strong problem-solving, logical reasoning, and analytical skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills for collaborating with teams and training end users.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in software development management is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Enhance and expand Searchlight, developing new features to improve intelligence gathering and trend analysis.
• Optimize data collection across multiple operational contexts and design user-friendly interfaces for data visualization.
• Support tech-related projects, including automation and API integrations for LJI’s extensive use of Google Sheets and other platforms.
• Contribute to innovation efforts, working on projects that increase LJI’s ability to scale its anti-trafficking impact.
• Build and maintain a team of financial supporters through regular communication and updates.
