About The Position

Love Justice International (LJI) is a Christian nonprofit dedicated to fighting human trafficking and caring for orphaned and abandoned children. We are seeking faithful, compassionate, and mission-driven individuals to join our team. This role is a calling for those who are drawn to work that demands sacrifice, boldness, and faith, aiming to make a significant impact in combating injustice. LJI operates as an "Impact Engineering" organization, focusing on maximizing real-world outcomes through scientific and business principles combined with local insights. Our anti-human trafficking efforts involve transit monitoring to intercept potential victims and gather information for law enforcement, having resulted in over 100,000 interceptions and 2,000 arrests to date. This volunteer translator position is crucial for ensuring excellence and understanding among our field offices in Asia and Africa by accurately translating important documents such as forms, instruction manuals, and training materials into seven target languages (Amharic, Bangla, French, Hindi, Indonesian, Nepali, and Portuguese). The national staff rely on these translations to understand requirements and forms, making this one of the most important roles at LJI. The Volunteer Translator will report to the Installation and Forms Specialist, with a flexible duration but a minimum commitment of 100 hours.

Requirements

• Mature Christian faith and agreement with our Global Value to “Abide in Christ”.
• Knowledge, understanding, and agreement with how the Christian Gospel ministers to “the least of these” (Matthew 25:40) and guides us in our mission.
• Agreement with our Core Value “Be the Kingdom” (in mission execution and personal conduct).
• Acknowledgment of our Statement of Faith.
• Passion for justice and advocacy on behalf of vulnerable populations.
• University professor in target language or 5+ years experience with professional translation preferred.
• High standard of personal discipline.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in both English and one of our target languages.
• Strong experience of translation work.
• Strong proficiency with Google Docs in English and target language.
• Willing and able to pass language quiz.
• Internet access.

Responsibilities

• Complete multiple translation projects in one of our target languages.
• Test multiple potential processes and procedures, and then provide feedback to assist the Installation and Forms Specialist with building a robust translation program.
• Attend translation meetings to answer questions and make corrections to translation work as needed.
