About The Position

As an Animal Tech II, you will ensure the well-being of laboratory animals by performing complex care, feeding, and maintenance tasks. The work supports researchers and scientists in advancing medical knowledge and treatments. The role also helps maintain compliance with regulatory standards and foster a safe, ethical environment for animal research. The position is part of Henry Ford Health’s Bioresources Department and supports animal care and research in a state-of-the-art facility.

Requirements

• High school graduate or G.E.D. equivalent.
• Six months of paid, hands-on animal experience.
• Possess and maintain a valid Michigan vehicle operator's license and a satisfactory driving record.

Nice To Haves

• Two years of related animal experience.
• ALAT certification.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily care, feeding, and maintenance for various laboratory animal species.
• Ensure activities comply with regulatory and accreditation standards, including NIH, USDA, and AAALAC International.
• Maintain a safe working environment by following appropriate safety procedures and using equipment correctly.
• Support research protocols by adhering to approved procedures and guidelines.
