As an Animal Control Dispatcher & Administrative Officer, you'll coordinate service calls, dispatch officers, maintain records, and provide key administrative support to enforcement operations. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office with emphasis on MS Word and Excel
  • Skill in using analytical and research skills in performance of job duties
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in all aspects of office environment including exceptional customer service, office management, leadership, and multi-tasking.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment criminal background check, drug screen, and post-offer physical/fitness for duty evaluation.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of prior dispatcher experience
  • Six months of code enforcement or paralegal experience
  • Familiarity with radio equipment, codes and languages
  • Prior experience in the animal control and animal sheltering services field

Responsibilities

  • Operate communication equipment to receive and prioritize requests for service from the general public, following existing guidelines.
  • Determine officer availability and dispatch requests for service to Animal Control Officers (ACO) in the field.
  • Receive calls from an answering service via facsimile or email and transfer them to the computer and standard forms.
  • Maintain a written dispatch log of all requests for service received.
  • Be knowledgeable of animal control ordinances in order to educate the public.
  • Mail letters and informational pamphlets to animal owners advising them of complaints and possible code violations.
  • Track, maintain and update the special purpose licenses; correspond with the Zoning Department on applications; schedule inspections with customers.
  • Organize and manage appealed cases, including appearing at court as necessary. Interview witnesses and victims and prepare testimony for use at hearing. Maintain communication with victims and witnesses to coordinate appearances at hearings and keep them informed of case status. Respond to hearing correspondence and court filings.
  • Prepare exhibits and other documents to be filed with Administrative Hearing Office.
  • Create trial notebooks for officer use at hearings.
  • Analyze legal issues and accurately document/ report findings to Enforcement Supervisor. Review and interpret administrative court orders.
  • Maintain confidential information in accordance with legal standards and municipal regulations.
