About The Position

The Arizona Humane Society is seeking a full-time leader to oversee our Animal Assistance and Transport departments, based primarily at our Papago Park Campus, Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM. In this role, you'll serve as the primary leader for Animal Assistance, Rescue, and Transport Programs, acting as the first point of contact and ensuring pets are connected with people through critical services and strategic partnerships. You'll oversee daily operations, guide program initiatives, and help drive progress toward organizational goals. You'll lead, coach, and develop a high-performing team, providing clear direction, support, and accountability while fostering a culture of compassion, collaboration, and excellence. A key part of your role will be building and maintaining relationships with local and national partners to support transport efforts, helping address adoption disparities by bringing pets into AHS and coordinating placements with rescue organizations. You'll regularly evaluate program performance, analyze data, and refine processes to improve efficiency, service quality, and overall impact. This role also includes managing budgets, contributing to grant efforts in partnership with Development, and ensuring policies and procedures support both operational success and an exceptional experience for our community.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or a related field preferred
  • Certified Animal Welfare Administrator (CAWA) certification preferred
  • Valid driver's license
  • 5+ years of experience in animal welfare leadership or a related field
  • Proven track record of leading, developing, and managing large teams
  • Experience in customer experience, customer lifecycle, and CRM systems
  • Strategic thinker who thrives in a fast-paced environment and can translate complex concepts into actionable plans
  • Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple priorities and lead with urgency
  • Critical, creative, and innovative problem-solver
  • Strong budgeting, performance management, and financial analysis skills
  • Exceptional communication skills with the ability to speak, read, write, and understand English
  • Must pass pre-employment drug and background screening.

  • Bilingual in Spanish is a plus
