About The Position

We have an exclusive contract at the VA Medical Center in Albuquerque, NM, and are seeking one additional Anesthesiologist to join the existing team of two. This is a 6-month contract position with options to extend. The role involves providing anesthesia services within a modified anesthesia care model, which includes independent CRNA practice, supervising CRNAs, and Anesthesiologists working solo when required. The department consists of 9 Operating Rooms and 5 out-of-OR locations (GI, Cath lab, bronchoscopy, ECTs, and interventional radiology). The department is staffed with 6 Anesthesiologists and 10 CRNAs, with a fully staffed department requiring 9 Anesthesiologists and 10 CRNAs. Daily staffing typically includes 2-4 Anesthesiologists and 7-8 CRNAs. The charting system used is PICIS. The average daily case volume is 10-20 anesthetic cases.

Requirements

Citizen of the United States.
Board Certified/Board Eligible by the ABA (new graduates are acceptable).
Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any state.
Ability to pass a Government background security check (no record of criminal offenses or substantiated incidents of patient abuse).

Responsibilities

Administer anesthesia personally or clinically supervise CRNAs.
Work within a modified anesthesia care model.
Provide anesthesia for a variety of surgical and procedural cases, including general surgery, orthopedic surgery, robotic surgeries, cataract surgery, and procedures in GI, Cath lab, bronchoscopy, ECTs, and interventional radiology.
Potentially cover vascular surgeries (CEA, EVAR, AV fistula creations) if the facility resumes these during 2025.
Adhere to a published quarterly schedule.
Provide 60-day notice if needing to leave the contract.
