About The Position

We have an exclusive contract at the VA in Albuquerque, NM, and are seeking one additional Anesthesiologist to join the existing team. This role involves providing anesthesia services at the Raymond G. Murphy VA Medical Center. The position operates under a modified anesthesia care model, which may include administering anesthesia independently, clinically supervising Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs), or working solo when necessary. The department is well-staffed with a mix of Anesthesiologists and CRNAs, and the facility performs a variety of surgical and procedural cases, with potential expansion into vascular surgeries in the future. This is a 6-month contract with options to extend.

Requirements

Citizen of the United States
Board Certified/Board Eligible by the ABA (new grads OK)
Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any state
Must be able to pass a Government background security check (no record of criminal offenses or substantiated incidents of patient abuse)

Nice To Haves

The facility is actively pursuing a vascular surgery contract with the university hospital. They will likely be resuming sometime during 2025 surgeries such as CEAs, EVARs, AV fistula creations.

Responsibilities

Administer anesthesia personally or clinically supervise CRNAs.
Participate in a modified anesthesia care model.
Work in a "modified anesthesia care model, incorporating independent CRNA practice, supervising CRNAs, and Anesthesiologists working solo when required."
Provide anesthesia services for a range of cases including general surgery, orthopedics, gynecology, ophthalmology, ENT, urology, and pain management procedures.
Potentially provide anesthesia for vascular surgeries (CEA, EVAR, AV fistula creations) if the facility resumes these during 2025.
Work within a department of 9 ORs and 5 out of OR locations (GI, Cath lab, bronchoscopy, ECTs, and interventional radiology).
