About The Position

WanderStaffing has an exclusive contract with the VA in Albuquerque, NM, and is seeking one additional Anesthesiologist to join the existing team of two. The role is located at the Raymond G. Murphy VA Medical Center. This is a 6-month contract position with options to extend. The compensation is $450/hr on a 1099 basis, all-inclusive, with medical malpractice covered (claims made + 3yr tail). The department consists of 9 ORs and 5 out of OR locations, staffed by 6 Anesthesiologists and 10 CRNAs. The charting system is PICIS. The department handles an average of 10-20 anesthetic cases daily, including various surgical procedures. The facility is actively pursuing a vascular surgery contract and expects to resume certain vascular surgeries in 2025. Cardiothoracic, Neuro, Transplants, and Trauma cases are not performed at this facility.

Requirements

Citizen of the United States
Board Certified/Board Eligible by the ABA (new grads are acceptable)
Current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine in any state
Ability to pass a Government background security check (no record of criminal offenses or substantiated incidents of patient abuse)
BLS, ACLS, DEA certifications

Nice To Haves

Experience in a VA or government medical facility.
Familiarity with PICIS charting system.

Responsibilities

Administer anesthesia or clinically supervise CRNAs.
Work within a modified anesthesia care model, which may include independent CRNA practice, supervising CRNAs, and working solo when required.
Provide anesthesia for a variety of surgical cases including general surgery, orthopedics, robotic procedures, ophthalmology, ENT, urology, and regional anesthesia.
Potentially provide anesthesia for vascular surgeries once the contract is in place.
Adhere to the established schedule and provide advance notice for time off requests.
