About The Position

Provides support to the anesthesia care team to assist with patient care responsibilities, including anesthesia equipment cleaning, maintenance, and troubleshooting, cleaning and turnover of ORs, and supply management in coordination with materials management. The role involves cleaning and maintaining anesthesia carts, machines, and other equipment, stocking supplies, responding to inventory needs, and assisting anesthesia practitioners with supplies, equipment, and pharmaceuticals as needed. The technician will respond to emergency calls, sterilize or high-level disinfect equipment, initiate repair requests with Clinical Engineering, and troubleshoot equipment before requesting repair. Additionally, the role assists with room turnover by cleaning and setting up supplies for the next case. Problem-solving, prioritizing work, and being proactive in anticipating needs are key. The technician will maintain a clean and orderly environment, keeping trash, linen, and supplies in proper locations, and assist with patient care as needed regardless of department assignment.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent OR post-high school diploma / highest degree earned
  • No experience required.

Nice To Haves

  • Job related course work beyond High School, up to 12 months (Anesthesia Technician) preferred

Responsibilities

  • Cleans and maintains anesthesia carts, machines, and other equipment inclusive of but not limited to fiberoptic bronchoscopes and laryngoscopes located in the department.
  • Stocks supplies and responds to inventory management by informing supervisor or designee if supplies are inappropriate.
  • May initiate resolution in emergency.
  • Responds to needs of anesthesia practitioners as needed for supplies, equipment, pharmaceuticals, etc.
  • Responds to emergency call to any OR.
  • Sterilizes or high level disinfects equipment such as laryngoscope blades and handles, fiberoptic bronchoscopes or other equipment as needed for patient use.
  • Initiates action for repair as needed with Clinical Engineering.
  • Troubleshoots equipment prior to request for repair.
  • Assist to turn rooms by assisting with cleanup and initiating set up of supplies for next case while staff are taking patients to the recovery area.
  • Problem solves and prioritizes work.
  • Is proactive in avoiding last minute needs by anticipating work and needs of practitioners and patients.
  • Maintains environment in a clean and orderly fashion.
  • Keeps trash, linen, and supplies in proper locations.
  • Assists as needed to care for patients regardless of department assignment.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
