About The Position

The Anesthesia Technician at Sanford Health coordinates and provides essential anesthesia supplies, medications, and equipment for medical procedures, both before and during surgery. Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or obtained within 60 days of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • One year experience in a health care environment preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology helpful.
  • Strong computer skills helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Stock anesthesia supplies and clean equipment.
  • Coordinate and provide anesthesia supplies, medications and equipment effectively, before and during medical procedures.
  • Provide a safe, efficient environment for the surgical patient.
  • Demonstrate accordance with ethical and legal responsibilities.
  • Respond in an emergency and within their scope, with careful and thoughtful responses to a wide variety of requests in a stressed and rushed situation by providing anesthesia supplies and equipment as needed.
  • Assist in the preparation of equipment.
  • Assist with medications when applicable.
  • Assist with orders, stocking inventory, tests and maintaining anesthesia equipment.
  • Clean and disinfect reusable equipment.
  • Report malfunctioning equipment to appropriate personnel.
  • Remove all special and reusable material after cases.
  • Be responsible for the turnaround of the room in accordance with infection control policies and procedures.
  • Maintain clean working environment, surgical rooms.
  • Assist in clerical duties as needed within the unit, including incoming phone calls.
