About The Position

The Anesthesia Technician coordinates and provides anesthesia supplies, medications and equipment effectively, before and during medical procedures. This role provides a safe, efficient environment for the surgical patient and demonstrates accordance with ethical and legal responsibilities. The technician must be available to respond in an emergency and within their scope, with careful and thoughtful responses to a wide variety of requests in a stressed and rushed situation by providing anesthesia supplies and equipment as needed. They assist in the preparation of equipment and may assist with medications when applicable. Responsibilities also include assisting with orders, stocking inventory, testing and maintaining anesthesia equipment. The technician will be responsible to clean and disinfect reusable equipment as well as report malfunctioning equipment to appropriate personnel. They may also be delegated to remove all special and reusable material after cases and are responsible for the turnaround of the room in accordance with infection control policies and procedures. Additionally, the role involves maintaining a clean working environment, surgical rooms, and assisting in clerical duties as needed within the unit, including incoming phone calls.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required or obtained within 60 days of employment

Nice To Haves

  • One year experience in a health care environment preferred
  • Knowledge of medical terminology helpful
  • Strong computer skills helpful

Responsibilities
