About The Position
Under general supervision, the Anesthesia Technician supports anesthesiologists and Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) in delivering safe and efficient anesthesia care. This position prepares, maintains, and troubleshoots anesthesia equipment and supplies used in operating rooms, procedural areas, and obstetric suites. The Anesthesia Technician works directly with the anesthesia care team before, during, and after procedures, including emergency situations.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or obtained within 30 days of hire
- Completion of an accredited Anesthesia Technology program or a minimum of one year of experience as an Anesthesia Technician, Surgical Technologist, or related clinical/biomedical role
Nice To Haves
- Certified Anesthesia Technician (Cer.A.T.) or Certified Anesthesia Technologist (Cer.A.T.T.)
- Associate degree in Anesthesia Technology or related health science field
- Two or more years of anesthesia technician experience in an acute care hospital or trauma setting
- Experience with electronic health records and inventory management systems
Responsibilities
- Set up, inspect, calibrate, and maintain anesthesia equipment and monitors
- Perform anesthesia machine checkouts and leak tests
- Clean, decontaminate, and reprocess reusable anesthesia equipment
- Coordinate equipment repairs and maintenance
- Maintain airway carts, difficult airway carts, and malignant hyperthermia carts
- Assist with patient positioning, IV setup, and line preparation
- Support airway management procedures and specialized equipment setup
- Operate fluid warmers, rapid infusers, and related devices as trained
- Respond to anesthesia emergencies, trauma cases, and code situations
- Stock anesthesia workstations and supply rooms
- Monitor inventory levels and order supplies
- Assist with anesthesia medication handling in accordance with policy
- Maintain equipment cleaning and maintenance records
- Support orientation and training of new staff and students
- Communicate effectively with anesthesia providers, surgeons, nurses, and surgical technologists
- Perform other duties as assigned
