Assistant Vice President - Anesthesia
About The Position
Virtua Health, a nationally recognized, not-for-profit health system, is seeking an experienced Assistant Vice President (AVP) of Anesthesia to provide leadership and strategic direction for our anesthesia services across five hospitals. This leadership role offers a unique opportunity to shape the future of anesthesia care, enhance clinical excellence, and drive operational performance across a dynamic healthcare system. Strategic & Operational Leadership: Support the development and execution of system-wide anesthesia strategy in alignment with Virtua Health’s mission and goals Oversee day-to-day operations of anesthesia services across multiple sites, ensuring efficient, high-quality care delivery Identify and implement opportunities for growth, access, and operational improvement Team Leadership & Engagement: Partner with anesthesiologists, CRNAs, and administrative leaders to foster a collaborative, high-performing team environment Support recruitment, retention, and engagement initiatives across anesthesia services Promote a culture of accountability, communication, and continuous improvement Quality & Safety: Ensure adherence to clinical best practices, patient safety standards, and regulatory requirements Monitor and improve quality metrics, patient outcomes, and patient experience Operational Excellence: Drive performance improvement initiatives, including OR efficiency, throughput, and resource utilization Collaborate with perioperative and hospital leadership to align priorities and enhance service delivery Collaboration & Partnership: Build strong relationships with physicians, hospital executives, and interdisciplinary teams Serve as a key liaison between anesthesia providers and system leadership
Requirements
- MD or DO with board certification in Anesthesiology.
- Significant clinical and leadership experience in anesthesia, ideally in a complex healthcare setting.
- Demonstrated success in leading teams, managing operations, and advancing clinical programs.
- Exceptional communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
