About The Position

The Anesthesia Technician supports the anesthesia team by preparing and maintaining anesthesia equipment and supplies, ensuring the smooth and efficient operation of anesthesia services in the operating room. This role involves assisting anesthesiologists with patient care before, during, and after surgical procedures, adhering to strict safety and sterilization protocols. The Anesthesia Technician plays a critical role in maintaining patient safety and comfort, contributing to the overall success of surgical operations. Requirements

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Adherence to hospital policies and procedures.
  • Consistent accuracy in equipment setup and maintenance.
  • Timeliness and efficiency in completing assigned tasks.
  • Commitment to continuing education and staying current with advancements in anesthesia technology.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification as an Anesthesia Technician (Cer.A.T.) or Anesthesia Technologist (Cer.A.T.T.)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Anesthesia Providers: Collaborate closely with anesthesiologists and nurse anesthetists to prepare for and assist with anesthesia procedures.
  • Equipment Preparation: Ensure that anesthesia equipment, including machines, monitors, and supplies, is properly set up and functioning optimally prior to procedures.
  • Patient Preparation: Assist in preparing patients and equipment for anesthesia administration, which may include positioning, securing monitoring devices, and providing comfort measures. Maintain privacy and confidentiality of individuals and health information.
  • Monitor Vital Signs: Continuously monitor patients' vital signs and anesthesia equipment during procedures, promptly reporting any abnormalities or concerns to the anesthesia provider.
  • Stock Management: Maintain an organized inventory of anesthesia supplies, including anesthesia carts, emergency airway carts and the anesthesia supply areas, ensuring adequate stock levels and proper storage conditions.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of anesthesia equipment, following manufacturer guidelines and hospital protocols.
  • Sterilization: Properly clean, disinfect, and sterilize reusable anesthesia equipment according to established protocols, maintaining high standards of infection control.
  • Documentation: Accurately document relevant information related to anesthesia procedures, including patient assessments, equipment checks, and supply usage.
  • Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with other members of the healthcare team, including surgeons, nurses, and surgical technologists, to ensure seamless coordination of patient care.
  • Compliance: Adhere to all hospital policies, regulatory requirements, and safety standards related to anesthesia care and equipment usage. Participate in ongoing educational and competency verification activates applicable to anesthesia technician activities.
  • Ability to lift and move equipment and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Prolonged periods of standing, walking, and bending.
  • Dexterity to handle small instruments and equipment with precision.
  • Stamina to work long shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
