About The Position

Idaho Falls Community Hospital is looking for an Anesthesia Support Technician to join their team. The Anesthesia Support Technician ensures that anesthesia providers have the necessary supplies, equipment, medications, and ancillary items for patient care during procedures requiring anesthesia. This role involves maintaining anesthesia inventory, ensuring equipment readiness, managing supply availability, and organizing storage areas within Surgical Services. The technician will collaborate with anesthesia providers, nursing staff, sterile processing, and supply chain to support efficient surgical operations and foster a positive work environment. Requirements

  • High School graduate or equivalent.
  • Experience in supply chain management, surgical services, central supply, sterile processing, anesthesia support, or related healthcare field preferred.

  • Associates degree in healthcare science preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains anesthesia carts, workrooms, and storage areas to established PAR levels.
  • Stocks anesthesia medications and supplies as delegated and allowed by hospital policy and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitors anesthesia supply inventory and initiates orders to maintain adequate supply levels.
  • Checks anesthesia carts, workrooms, and storage areas for expired products and removes outdated supplies.
  • Stocks and organizes supplies used in operating rooms, procedure rooms, and areas where anesthesia services are provided.
  • Assists anesthesia providers with locating and obtaining needed supplies and equipment.
  • Supports operating room turnover through restocking anesthesia supplies between cases.
  • Maintains accurate inventory records and participates in inventory counts as assigned.
  • Coordinates with Materials Management and vendors regarding supply availability, shortages, substitutions, and backorders.
  • Maintains readiness of anesthesia equipment at scheduled intervals.
  • Performs routine cleaning of external surfaces of anesthesia machines, carts, monitors, and related equipment according to established policy.
  • Ensures anesthesia equipment and ancillary devices are available, clean, and appropriately stocked for patient care.
  • Reports equipment concerns, malfunctions, maintenance needs, and damaged equipment promptly to appropriate personnel.
  • Coordinates preventive maintenance activities with Biomedical Engineering as directed.
  • Assists with movement, setup, and organization of anesthesia-related equipment throughout Surgical Services.
  • Supports troubleshooting efforts by ensuring availability of necessary equipment and supplies.
  • Assists with receiving, stocking, distributing, and organizing supplies within Surgical Services.
  • Maintains supply storage areas in a clean, organized, and regulatory-compliant manner.
  • Monitors inventory utilization and participates in inventory management initiatives.
  • Assists with specialty supply management projects as assigned.
  • Supports Surgical Services departments with supply acquisition and inventory control activities.
  • Maintains accurate documentation related to supplies, equipment, and inventory.
  • Demonstrates appropriate communication skills.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly work environment.
  • Follows infection prevention and safety standards.
  • Maintains compliance with hospital policies and procedures.
  • Identifies safety concerns and takes appropriate action.
  • Demonstrates accountability, professionalism, and teamwork.
  • Participates in required education and competency activities.
  • Performs other central supply, inventory management, anesthesia support, and departmental duties as assigned.
