Surgery Anesthesia Veterinary Technician
About The Position
BluePearl Pet Hospital in Northfield, IL is looking for a Surgery Anesthesia Veterinary Technician to join their team. This is a great opportunity to work alongside a talented specialty surgery team while caring for a wide variety of challenging cases. You’ll support orthopedic, soft tissue, and emergency procedures while having the opportunity to continue developing your anesthesia skills. The schedule involves three 12-hour shifts per week, with participation in a rotating on-call schedule consisting of one weekday shift per week and one full weekend approximately every 4-5 weeks. This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship or sponsorship transfer. Applicants must possess unrestricted, current authorization to work in the U.S. and not require future sponsorship for an employment-based green card. Requirements
- CVT/LVT/RVT preferred, or equivalent veterinary anesthesia experience
- Strong anesthesia monitoring and patient care skills
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced surgical environment
- Excellent communication and organization skills
- A desire to continue developing advanced anesthesia skills
- Unrestricted, current authorization to work in the U.S. and not require future sponsorship for an employment-based green card.
Responsibilities
- Administer and continuously monitor anesthesia for approximately 4-6 surgical procedures per day
- Support orthopedic, soft tissue, and emergency surgeries
- Develop anesthetic plans based on individual patient needs
- Monitor patients, troubleshoot complications, and make appropriate interventions
- Place IV catheters, intubate patients, manage CRIs, and operate anesthesia equipment
- Prepare and maintain anesthesia, surgical, and monitoring equipment
- Assist with pre-surgical assessments, patient admissions, recovery, and post-operative care
- Take patients through the entire procedure from pre-op through recovery
- Communicate with clients regarding procedures, expectations, and recovery
- Provide emergency support during scheduled on-call shifts
